Learning Contracts
Definition/Synopsis:
A learning contract is a tool that acts as an agreement between the teacher and the student (or group of students) to complete an objective and/or learning activity by a stipulated deadline. Learning contracts are generally used to facilitate assessment but are not the assessments themselves (more of a guideline). Learning contracts may be designed by teacher or student (or a collaboration of the two). Learning contracts are often seen as a way to motivate students to stay on target and to delve more deeply into an area of study.
